Hackathons are a huge part of the culture at Facebook and usually had a theme or specific product to hack on. Participants would enter as a team or teams were formed on the fly. The only rule was we were not allowed to work on anything that we worked on day-to-day. There was a specified timeframe for teams to work (usually a day or two), after which we demo what we built.

For this one, I served on a team of four as a kind of designer/ product manager hybrid. Our concept was a new kind of Instagram post that had multiple sponsors, allowing users to zoom and tap in multiple areas of the photo to purchase products directly from the UI.

I created this demo showing multiple tap points and pinch zoom to optimize finger swipe panning once the photo was enlarged. Plus a Messenger integration for payment and receipt so users are never taken off platform or to any other purchase flow.
